LJ 1 of 7: Tuas South Incineration Plant

Tuas South Incineration Plant (TSIP) is the fourth refuse incineration plant built in Singapore. It is currently the largest refuse incineration plant and can incinerate 3,000 tonnes of refuse per day through its 6 incinerators. The plant was built at a cost of S$890 million and was completed in the year 2000.

TSIP is in the west of Singapore and stands on reclaimed land of area approximately 10.5 ha. The construction of the Plant began in June 1996 and was completed in June 2000. The Plant was built with state-of-the-art technology. The various processes are highly automated and controlled via a Digital Control System (DCS). Modern equipment incorporating advanced technology is used in the plant to ensure a higher level of efficiency and reliability.

Tuas South Incineration Plant, together with the other 3 incineration plants, and the off shore Semakau Landfill, will meet the refuse disposal needs of Singapore, and help in achieving a clean environment for all Singaporeans.
