My very first Teachers' Day in Anderson Pri was in 2005. The annual dinner was held @ Raffles Town Club and the theme for that night was "Ethnic Costume". Though a little corny, I think that was the first time that there was a theme for the Teachers' Day Dinner. Sadly, I did not really make that extra effort on the costume.

2006's dinner was held @ YCK Glassroot Club. The theme was "Retro Nite" and I enjoyed this the greatest and I remember this the most. Some of the teachers and I spent quite a good bit of time and days scouring various places for the costumes. It was all worthwhile as the process and dinner were really fun and enjoyable. It subsequently made me look forward to the Teachers' Day Dinner every year. This was the last year when Mr Chong was still our principal.

2007's theme did not go quite well with some teachers. It was "Ebony & Ivory". Simply it means "Black & White". The dinner was held @ Orchid Country Club. I found the atmosphere a little awkward too. Seeing everyone in black & white did remind me of "another type of occasion". =S

2008's dinner called for a more formal dress code. "Red Carpet Gala" @ Hilton Hotel. I quite like this theme too, as we do not really have much opportunity to dress in shirt & suit. U have to know that we work in non-airconditioned classrooms. Everyone was very well-dressed that night.

This year, 2009, unlike all the previous years, the dinner was moved outdoor, beside a swimming pool. The theme was "Sizzling Tropicana Nite" @ The Pines. The weather was on our side. It did not rain, except for the high humidity, which is nothing unusual in Singapore though. The ladies came dressed in their sundresses, while the men came in floral-print shirts, bermudas and sandals.

I was doing my in-camp from 21 Aug - 4 Sep, and I thought I would miss this annual event. Fortunately, it was an off-day on 28 Aug. Following a spell of poor luck in camp, my fortune took a change that night. Lady Luck decided that I'll be the one to drive home with the top prize - a Samsung 32" LCD HDTV. It was a blessing in disguise afterall! =D
There were 130 teaching & non-teaching staffs, and parents present that night. My lucky number was "100". =D I have to admit that I was really really lucky. Mr Martin Tan, without any prior warning, strewn all the remaining lucky draw stubs from the fish bowl onto the floor for that final draw. It was hard to imagine that he then actually picked up my number. =D
I am a little disappointed that I could not be there for the Teachers' Day celebration in school, although I was really idling away in camp. I would love to snap as many photos as possible of u people on that "Be Yourself Day". (I thought this theme would be more appropriate for Children's Day). Nevertheless, I am still going to demand for my gifts. There's no escape about this. Hehe.. I'll get some photos from Mr Justin & post it here. =D
Meanwhile, prepare for the many fierce battles ahead. See u people on Monday! (",)
