Term 2 Week 3: Singapore Kindness Movement

Remember this picture and the story behind it? This is kindness in its simplest form. =D

Since March 2001, the National Courtesy Campaign, which was originally launched in 1979, was incorporated into the Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM). Indeed, courtesy is the simplest form of kindness, and both courtesy and kindness are underpinned by sincerity - kindness comes from the heart, and courtesy forms the action, the outward expression of kindness.

Singa the Lion, the familiar icon for courtesy that most Singaporeans grew up with, is placed together with the kindness heart, bringing courtesy and kindness together to foster a more gracious society.

Kindness is in everyone. The Singapore Kindness Movement wants to encourage everyone to start, show and share kindness. We aspire to inspire graciousness one kind act at a time. By sparing a thought for the people around us, we hope to create a gracious society, and make life better for you and me.

Mission of Singapore Kindness Movement

To help build a gracious Singapore, the Singapore Kindness Movement aims to encourage the individual to internalise courtesy, kindness and consideration. Our mission statement is:

To inspire graciousness through spontaneous acts of kindness, making life more pleasant for everyone.

Objectives of Singapore Kindness Movement

- To encourage all Singaporeans to be kind and considerate.
- To create public awareness of acts of kindness.
- To influence and raise the standards of behaviour and responsibility.

The Election - The Elected

Back by popular demand, Chen Keat has been re-appointed as the Class Monitor for Term 2 (2009), after sweeping up 16 out of the possible 37 votes. This is an reenactment of his spectacular feat in Term 1 (of 2008) when he garnered almost half the total number of votes, and reiterating his excellent relationships with his classmates. Congratulations! =D

The unpolished gem, Shernise, will be put to the test as the Class Monitoress, starting Monday, 6 April 2009. Shernise garnered a total of 12 votes in a tight race to be appointed as the Class Monitoress. Congratulations! =D

Zane & Peijun have relinquished their roles as the Class Monitor & Monitoress for Term 1. Both of them have done a great job! *clap! clap! clap!* (",)

Chen Keat & Shernise will now have to prove that they are able to live up to the expectations of their classmates. =)

Term 2 Week 2: Learning Journey @ National Museum of Singapore

Happy April's Fool Day! xD

We were there & back. With the use of the electronic Companion and the fine exhibits & collections there, Museum may not be such a dull & boring place afterall. =)

Hope that u have had an eye-opening experience that day. Let's talk about our trip there for this week's reflections. Use the guiding questions below to help u in your reflections. Include any opinions of your own, if possible.
