Sony Creative Science Award - Technical Workshop

Two very interesting workshops organized for pupils at the Singapore Science Centre by Sony, and in collaboration with MOE & A*STAR.

I am sure Pushpin, Michael, Ramon, Benz, Tino, Shu Xuan, Xin Xian & Peijun had an enjoyable time at these 2 workshops.

They got to see how we could use elastic potential energy of a twisted rubberband to propel a boat, how this energy can also be utilised to caused a rolling bottle to roll back to u. We have also seen how the wheel & axle, and interlocking gears can change the movement of an applied force to make interesting moving toys.

Best of all, we had a 30-minute break at the McDonalds! =D

Hope that we'll have more interesting learning journeys for the next 6 months that u have left in Anderson Pri! =)

Dream Carrier - 23 Feb 2009

Scenario

Everybody has a dream or two.

Some aspire to be a great scientist or astronaut, while some dream of becoming a pilot one day. There are people who yearn to win in the Toto draw, while others just wish to get into the secondary schools of their choice.

Whatever your dream(s) is/are, go after it/them. But wait! The most feared and dreaded Destroyer of the Dream is back to wreck havoc!

Mission

Your task is to protect your dream(s) from the monster and to keep it/them alive.

You are to design a carrier that could carry and protect your dream(s) from the impact of the falls.

Requirements

1) The egg, with your dreams written on it, must remain intact (not broken) when the carrier is dropped from level 2, 3 & 4.
2) The carrier must be easily opened to check on the condition of the egg after every drop.

Congratulations to led by Peijun, and comprised of Trina, Wen Fang & Shernise, for accomplishing the mission and clinching the Overall Best! =D

Special mention to P.P.B. led by Pushpin, and comprised of Chen Keat, Wesley & Davian, for successfully defending their dreams. =D
